I visited Kyrgyzstan in May 2005, my first time in Central Asia. The country has changed a lot since then, so I thought I would share some impressions from that period. Bishkek’s cityscape was still dominated by Soviet-inspired architecture but international clothing and style was already well present. My trip coincided with Day of Victory (9 May), a hugely important commemoration in Russia/CIS countries. I’ve included a few pictures of night life at the fantastic Heaven club (now closed).
